Step 1: Go to the VEVO Website 

First, go to the Department of Home Affairs’ official Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) website.
You may use any device like computer, tablet, or phone to access it at any time.

Step 2: Make Sure You Have Your Documents Ready

Before you start, ensure you have your travel document and reference number ready.

1. Travel Document:
   – Your Passport 
   – Your ImmiCard
   
2. Reference Number:
   a) Transaction Reference Number (TRN): If you applied for your visa online, you will have a TRN. You can check the number on your ImmiAccount under the “online lodgement summary” page if you don’t remember it.
   
   b) Visa Grant Number: Your visa grant notification letter, which you may have received via email or mail, contains your visa grant number.
   
   Note-The visa grant number in your grant notification can be associated with a non-“in-effect” visa. The grant number of your current visa is an only way to view your visa details.
    
   You can visit the VEVO Request for Reference Number Form to learn how to obtain your visa grant number.
   
   c) Visa Evidence Number: If your passport has a visa label on it, you can have a visa evidence number. A visa label is not present on every passport.

Step 3: Select “Check Your Own Visa Details with VEVO”

Once you open the VEVO page, choose the option for visa holders. This will take you to the Visa Holder Enquiry screen.

Step 4: Select Your Travel Document Type

VEVO accepts various types of documents, such as:

• Passport
• ImmiCard
• Convention Travel Document (Titre de Voyage)
• Document for Travel to Australia (DFTTA)
• PLO56 Evidence Card

Choose the document you will use for verification.

Step 5: Enter Your Reference Number

In the ‘Reference type’ section, select one of the following options:

• TRN
• Visa Grant Number
• Visa Evidence Number
• VEVO Password (only if you’ve been provided one)

Now enter the number in the given field.

Step 6: Enter Your Date of Birth

Enter your date of birth exactly as it appears in your travel document. 

Enter Your Travel Document Number

When you enter your passport or ImmiCard number, double check and make sure you avoid common mistakes like entering capital letter O with zero or capital letter I with number 1. Your accuracy ensures your provided information matches Home Affairs records.

Choose the Country of Document

You will not have to choose a country if you use your ImmiCard; but, if you are using a Titre de Voyage, you must enter the “country” as the “nationality” displayed on the Titre de Voyage.

Click Submit 

After checking the box to agree to VEVO’s terms and conditions, click Submit.

Your visa status, conditions, expiration date, and entitlements will be immediately displayed by VEVO.

How to Use the myVEVO app to Check Visa Status Online?

The myVEVO app offers a simple, mobile-friendly method of viewing your visa requirements or status and sending your visa information straight to employers, educational institutions, or other organisations. Here’s how to begin:

Step 1: Download the myVeVo App

You can download the myVEVO app for free from Apple App Store (if you are an iPhone user) and Google Play Store (if you are an android user)

After completion of download, you can open the app to begin your setup. 

Step 2: Create Your Personal Identification Number (PIN)

The app will ask you to create a personal Identification Number (PIN) to secure your account. You can enter your chosen PIN, and it will allow you to quickly log in each time you want to check your visa. 

While entering the PIN, you need to be careful because the app will reset, and you have to create a new PIN if you enter the wrong PIN three times. You can make the process easier and faster by enabling Touch ID or Face ID.

Step 3: Make Sure You Have Your Travel Document Ready

Choose the travel document you want to use to prove your identification from the drop-down menu: Passport, ImmiCard, DFTTA or Titre de Voyage (Convention Travel Document). 

You will need information from your document in the following steps, so keep it ready.

Step 4: Enter Your Personal Information

Enter the following: 
– Visa Grant Number Or TRN (Transaction Reference Number)
– Date of Birth

Double check it and make sure this information match the details on your visa records. 

Step 5: Enter Your Travel Document Number

Provide your passport, ImmiCard, DFTTA or Titre de Voyage number and then the country of document.

Note: Make sure you enter the accurate information. Double check for similar characters, like letter O vs 0 (number zero) and letter I vs 1 (number).

You must enter the “country” as the “nationality” displayed on the Titre de Voyage if you are using it. Whereas, you will not have to choose a country if you use your ImmiCard.

Step 6: Accept the Terms and Conditions

After you enter all the information, you will land on the terms and conditions page. Read the VEVO terms and conditions and then tap the Accept button to continue.

Step 7: Click Submit

Tap Submit and your process is completed. After completion, the app will show your visa status, subclass, work and study privileges, expiration date, and conditions.

Additionally, you can use the app to immediately email employers or organisations your visa details.

Send Your VEVO Visa Details by Email

Steps to Follow If You Get an Error Message

Try the following steps if VEVO displays an error:

1. Double check all the information you entered.
2. Make sure you have not mixed up similar characters (O vs 0 and I vs 1)
3. Verify that you are using the reference number associated with your active visa.
4. Remember that VEVO cannot show expired visas.
5. You could require the creation of an electronic visa record if you have entered Australia prior to 1990 and have not left since.
6. Remember to update VEVO if your passport has changed.
7. Conflicting information in your records, such as a different date of birth, could potentially lead to errors.
